1. John PARKER was born on 5 November 1810 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.1,2,3 He emigrated in 1851 from England, United Kingdom.3,4,5,6 They were recorded in the 1851 Census in Soham and then they moved to New York later that year. From there they moved to Lima in Dodge County, WI, and they arrived in Ridgeville in Monroe County in 1856. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 His occupation was "Farmer." John died on 7 March 1886 at the age of 75 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.1,6,7,8

Obituary Notes: "On Sunday, March 7th, 1886, at his home on the Ridge in the town of Wilton, Mr. John Parker, in his 77th year.

Two of the pioneers of this portion of the county, Mr. John Parker and Mrs. Saml. Sizer passed away within the last few days. They belonged to the first party of permanent settlers on that part of the Ridge, who located there in 1856, two years after Mr. Sizer and others first visited the Ridge."

John PARKER and Judith HICKS were married on 1 August 1831 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.5,10 Judith HICKS was born on 15 January 1811 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.1,2,5 She appeared in the census in 1860 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 She died on 26 January 1892 at the age of 81 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.1,5 Judith was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,9 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Robert PARKER was born on 26 July 1838 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.2,3,9,11,12 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Farm Laborer." He served in the military in 1863.6

From an article in the Biographical Histories of La Crosse, Monroe and Juneau Counties, Wisconsin: "He was drafted into the army in 1863, after having been rejected some two or three times when he had formerly volunteered. He served in the Twenty-fifth Wisconsin Infantry, and, for a few months, was with the regular pioneer corps, and later with Sherman in his march to the sea, and was also engaged for a time in the hospital service. On his discharge he returned to the old homestead, where he has ever since resided. He never married, but has unselfishly devoted his energies to the care of his parents, who were in feeble health for many years. He has served as town Officer, and is a member of the G.A.R., and also of the Knights of Pythias." Robert died on 25 September 1916 at the age of 78.4,9,13 (He may have died in 1913.) He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Lucy PARKER was born on 10 January 1846 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.2,3,4,11,12 (She was listed as "Josie S." in the 1900 Census.) She appeared in the census in 1860 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 She was Methodist about 1870 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4 She helped establish the Methodist Church in Tomah. Lucy lived at her home in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI in November 1905.6,13

From an article in the Biographical Histories of La Crosse, Monroe and Juneau Counties, Wisconsin: "Lucy resides at the old homestead, keeping house for her brothers, and is an intelligent and amiable lady, and greatly esteemed by all who know her. She is a valued member of the Methodist Church of Wilton, which she has assisted in many ways." She died on 17 December 1918 at the age of 72.4,13 She was buried on 21 December 1918 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.4,9 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Hicks "George" PARKER was born on 22 December 1849 in Soham, Cambridgeshire, England.2,9,12 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 In 1892 he was a taxidermist in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6

From an article in the Biographical Histories of La Crosse, Monroe and Juneau Counties, Wisconsin: "He is an expert taxidermist, and has many fine specimens of the birds and animals of this section. He is also a farrier and horse dentist, being considered one of the best in the county." Hicks appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.12 His occupation was listed as "veterinary surgeon." He appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11 Living with him in his household were his brother Robert and his sister Lucy. He died on 28 December 1913 at the age of 64.4,9,13 Hicks was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
