William LeRoy "Bill" WAEGE was born on 27 December 1942 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.84,152,674 He appeared in the census in 1950 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.306 He was confirmed on 27 May 1956 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.674 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. After 1967 Bill was a dairy farmer in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.674 Bill graduated from Tomah High School in 1960. He and his wife Marlys (Olson) lived on the August Pergande family farm in Wilton, WI after their marriage in 1965. There they raised their children Michelle, Jamie, Krista and Jenny.

Bill was very active in the FFA as a youngster, and continued his involvement with that organization as an active FFA Alumni member. He died on 22 October 2018 at the age of 75 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.675 Obituary Notes: "William (Bill) L. Waege, 75, of Ridgeville, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran Healthcare Center, LaCrosse. He was born December 27, 1942 to Harold and Doris (Pergande) Waege. Bill was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville.

He graduated from Tomah High School in 1960. From 1961 to 1967 he worked at Waege Implement Co., Tomah, which was owned by his parents. He was united in marriage to Marlys (Olson) on July 3, 1965, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kendall.

Before his wife’s passing Bill and Marlys were married 43 years and had four children. Taking over the family farm in 1967, Bill dairy farmed for 51 years. Bill was an FFA Alumnus and supporter/volunteer with the 4-H.

He was a member of  St. John Ev. Lutheran Church at Ridgeville, previously serving on the church council. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique IH tractors, attending tractor pulls and pulling tractors with his son. He gained a lot of his knowledge from reading and hands-on fixing of tractors and equipment. Bill was known for his vast knowledge of International tractors.

He was known as Grandpa Bill by his grandkids and Mr. Bill by neighbors and farming friends. He dedicated his life to farming and being able to provide for others. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children Michelle (Dean) Orr of Waupaca, James (Marilyn) Waege of Tomah, Krista (Paul) Murphy of Ridgeway and Jennifer (Tom) Tiber of Camp Douglas; 13 grandchildren, Ashley (Dietrich), Morgan, Garrett, Blake, Alex, Hayden and Kendall Orr, Mitchell, Tyler and Brooklyn Murphy, and Joe, Sydney and Luke Tiber; one brother, Bruce Waege. Sisters-in-law, Shirley Jahn, Sharon Olson, Yvonne Olson, JoAnn Waege, Cherlyn Moseley and Cate Phelps. Brothers-in-law Don Moseley and Gary Olson, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Doris; wife Marlys; brother Bernard Waege; brothers-in-law Eugene Greeno, Thomas Jahn, Duane Olson, and Larry Olson; sister-in-law Arlene Greeno; and nephew Travis Olson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah.  Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Kendall. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at the Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. William LeRoy "Bill" WAEGE and Marlys Evelyn OLSON were married on 3 July 1965 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.495,674 Marlys Evelyn OLSON, daughter of Chester Hans OLSON and Agnes Mary THAYER, was born on 28 July 1942 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.152 She appeared in the census in 1950 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.306 She died on 3 November 2008 at the age of 66 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.54 Obituary Notes: "Marlys E. Waege, 66, of Ridgeville, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at her home. Born July 28, 1942, to Chester and Agnes (Thayer) Olson in the Town of Clifton, she was confirmed at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1960. She attended La Crosse School of Cosmetology and worked as a beautician in Sparta. She was united in marriage to William Waege on July 3, 1965, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kendall. Marlys and Bill were married 43 years and had four children. They operated the family dairy farm since 1967.

She was a FFA Alumnist and served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening and being outdoors. She was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church at Ridgeville. Marlys was known as “Super Grandma” to her 12 grandchildren, who were most important to her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, William; her children, Michelle (Dean) Orr of Waupaca, James Waege of Tomah, Krista (Paul) Murphy of Ridgeway and Jennifer (Tom) Tiber of Camp Douglas; 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Garrett, Blake, Alexander, Hayden and Kendall Orr, Mitchell, Tyler and Brooklyn Murphy, and Joseph and Sydney Tiber; two brothers, Duane (Sharon) Olson of Wilton and Gary (Yvonne) Olson of Camp Douglas; four sisters, Arlene (Eugene) Greeno of Camp Douglas, Shirley (Thomas) Jahn of West Bend, JoAnn (Bernard) Waege of Sparta and Cherlyn (Don) Moseley of Warrens; a brother-in-law, Bruce Waege of Tomah; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Larry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville. Rev. Matthew Minzlaff and Rev. Fred Fedke will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Kendall.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service."


Marlys was buried on 8 November 2008 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.54 in the Glendale Cemetery.
