Oscar Raymond HESER (') (~) was born on 17 December 1905 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.27,86,228 He graduated in 1925 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.222 from Tomah High School. He died on 23 July 1979 at the age of 73 in Grayslake, Lake County, IL.19,27,228 Obituary Notes: "Funeral services for Oscar Heser, 73, of Grayslake, formerly of Round Lake are pending for Thursday, July 26, at Strang Funeral Chapel, Grayslake. Mr. Heser died July 23 at Condell Memorial Hospital following a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time. He had lived in the Grayslake and Round Lake area for the past 30 years. He was employed by the Milwaukee Road retiring in 1970. Survivors are his widow, Veora; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Diana) Morse of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Donald of Medford, Wis. and Eugene of Round Lake Beach; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs Van (Vila) Evans of Tomah, Wis. and Mrs. James (Doris) Graves of South Chicago. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Arlen in 1951; and by three brothers and three sisters. The interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, Round Lake. Card of Thanks: "We, the family of Oscar R. Oscar Raymond HESER (') (~) and Veora Caroline VROMAN (^) were married on 29 March 1930 in Winona, Winona County, MN.19,39,96,228,229 Oscar and Veora eloped to Winona, Minnesota. When returning home, Veora's father was extremely upset as Veora was 8 days shy of being 18 years old. He required that Oscar and Veora be re-married by a Justice of the Peace in Monroe County. They purchased their first home on Lot Eight, Block Two, A. Cady's Subdivision to the City of Tomah, 11 September 1939. Veora Caroline VROMAN (^), daughter of William Henry VROMAN and Estella Belle LAMB, was born on 7 April 1912 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.19,228 She was born in what is now the location of 20524 Charcoal Avenue. As of July 2000, the house, now beautifully remodeled, is still on site. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.53 She appeared in the census in April 1930 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.54 She was living with her parents, but her husband was not listed in the household. Veora died on 4 December 2000 at the age of 88 in Libertyville, Lake County, IL.19,228,230 at Condell Memorial Hospital. Obituary Notes (written by Veora herself): "Veora Caroline Vroman Heser passed away on December 4, 2000 at Condell Memorial Hospital, Libertyville, Illinois. Veora was born at home in Warrens, Wisconsin on April 7, 1912, the daughter of William Henry Vroman and Estella Belle Lamb Vroman. Veora was the widow of Oscar Raymond Heser whom she married on March 29, 1930 in Winona, Minnesota. Oscar and Veora started their married life in Tomah, Wisconsin, and in 1944 moved to Illinois. Oscar retired from the Chicago, Milwaukee, St Paul and Pacific Railroad in 1970 and passed away in 1979. Four children were born to this union, namely Donald Keith, Richard Arlen (both deceased), Diana Rae Heser Morse of Tieton, Washington and Eugene Paul Heser of Round Lake, Illinois. She also leaves a daughter-in-law Evelyn Marie Motl Heser of Medford, Wisconsin, plus 7 grandchildren and numerous great grand children. Besides her two sons, 3 brothers (Chester Archie, Frank William, Erwin Keith) and 3 sisters (Louisa Caroline, Eva, Mabel May) proceeded her in death. Veora had been in ill health for several years, but kept active, trusting in God to keep her on her feet. She belonged to several Senior organizations and was an active member of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Grayslake, Illinois. Veora chose to be cremated and her remains were interred at Fort Hill Cemetery, Round Lake, Illinois beside her husband and one son." Obituary Notes: "Veora C. Heser of Grayslake for 30 years. Veora was an active member of the Lake County Council for Seniors, the Happy Seniors Club of Round Lake, as well as numerous other senior activities. She is survived by daughter, Diana (Tom) Morse of Tieton, Wash; son, Eugene Heser of Round Lake Beach; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Heser, in July 1979; sons, Donald Heser, in 1984 and Richard Heser, in 1951; three sisters; and three brothers. Heser, 51, of Medford, Wis., formerly of Grayslake, died March 6 of injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born August 22, 1932 in Tomah, Wis. On Dec. 1, 1956, he married Evelyn Motl in Grayslake area and worked for a number of businesses. In 1970, he moved to Medford and was employed at Liberty Homes in Spencer, Wis. Since 1972, he had been employed at the Packaging Corp. of America in Colby, Wis. He was a maintenance specialist and was on his way to work when the fatal accident occurred. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Heser; six children, Susan (Arthur) Walls of Colby, John Heser, Mary Hahn and Michael Heser, all of Medford; Margaret Heser of Shakopee, Minn.; and Kenneth Heser, at home; six grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Heser of Round Lake; one sister, Diane Morse of Snohomish, Wash; and his mother, Veora Heser of Grayslake. Funeral services were held March 8 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Brendon Kunda officiating." He was buried after 6 March 1984 in Medford, Taylor County, WI.228 in the Evergreen Cemetery. | 325 | ii. | Richard Arlen "Dickie" HESER (`) (~) (^) was born on 19 March 1939 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.39,86,228 He died on 18 September 1951 at the age of 12 in Waukegan, Lake County, IL.39,228 at St. Therese Hospital. Mattie Griggs Vandervort had served as his nurse at some time when he and his family still resided in Tomah, and had sent a "Get Well" card to Richard when she heard that he was sick. The card was postmarked 17 September 1951, the day before his death. Gary Griggs received a copy of the card from Richard's sister, Diana Heser Morse. Dick was hospitalized about 12 days prior to his death for tests. He was diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. Dick was the "apple of his Mom's eye," a boy scout, musician, artist, excellent student and an all-around good kid. Obituary Notes: "Richard Arlen Heser, 12, of Nippersink Avenue, Round Lake, died Tuesday, September 18 at noon in St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan following an illness of nine days. Richard was born March 19, 1939, in Tomah, Wis., a son of Oscar and Veora Heser. He was a pupil in the round Lake Elementary school. Surviving, in addition to this parents, are two brothers, Donald and Eugene, and a sister Diana Rae. The body is at the Strange Chapel in Grayslake where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at the chapel at 1:00 P.M. Friday with the Rev. W. C. Silven officiating. Burial will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, west of Round Lake." He was buried on 21 September 1951 in Round Lake, Lake County, IL.228 in the Fort Hill Cemetery. | +326 | iii. | Diana Rae HESER (`) (~) (^). | 327 | iv. | Eugene Paul HESER (`) (~) (^) was born on 13 June 1948 in Waukegan, Lake County, IL.28,228,231 He died on 3 June 2015 at the age of 66 in Kenosha, Kenosha County, WI.231 Obituary Notes: "Eugene Paul 'Butch' Heser joined his Savior on 3 June 2015 in Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin. God blessed him by calling him quickly, in a beautiful park on Lake Michigan where he had gone to enjoy flying his Phantom drone. Paul, as he preferred to be called, was born 13 June 1948, in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois, the youngest child of Oscar Raymond Heser and Veora Caroline (nee Vroman) Heser, both descended from Monroe County Wisconsin Pioneer families. Paul served his country, was stationed in Korea, and honorably discharged from the U. S. Army in 1970. Paul was an avid cyclist, participating in several multi-mile rides in Wisconsin, Illinois and one in Arizona. He was a semi-professional photographer: and over a span of years played drums in several bands and at churches that he attended; and of course, his latest endeavor involved flying and taking aerial pictures with his drone. Paul is survived by his sister, Diana Morse of Necedah, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Evelyn Heser of Medford, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews Lisa Klingbeil of Naperville, Illinois; John Heser, Michael Heser, Mary Heser, Kenneth Heser all of Medford, Wisconsin; Susan Walls of Stetsonville, Wisconsin and Margaret Bates of Minnesota. Preceding him in death are his brothers Donald Keith, Richard Arlen, and his parents. It would be remiss not to mention 3 men who were his friends and with whom he was able to share his love of the Lord and grow in his faith: Rick Roman of Wonder Lake, Illinois; Jacque Koppen of Plainfield, Wisconsin; and Dave Delaney of Necedah, Wisconsin.
