William David OLSEN was born on 30 August 1923 in Madison, Dane County, WI.27,57 He died on 31 May 2004 at the age of 80.57 Obituary Notes: "William David Olsen, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2004. He was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Madison, the son of Henry and Myrtle (Heiser) Olsen. William was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army as a medic during the European Theater. He was employed with Badger Coachline as a bus driver and also with the University of Wisconsin as a custodian until his retirement in 1988, when he moved to Merrill. Although widowed and divorced twice, the love of William's life was his first wife and the mother of his children, Alice Marie Klentz. William loved sharing time with his family. His great sense of humor was enjoyed by family, friends and strangers. He was very patriotic and held the love of his country in high esteem. William was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2687 of Merrill. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Delores) Olsen of Oostburg; a daughter, Donna Olsen of Edgerton; two grandchildren, Michelle (Steven) Baumann of Kewaunee, and Stephanie (Ryan) Wilding of Merrill; four great-grandchildren, Savannah, McKenzie and Lauren Baumann, and Zachary Wilding. William is also survived by two brothers, Bob Olsen and John (Pearl) Olsen, both of Madison; two sisters, Betty Duff of Madison and Nancy Clark of St. Paul, Minn.; a special niece, Sarah; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; his brother, Jim; a sister-in-law, Bessie Olsen; a brother-in-law, Ken Clark; and his maternal in-laws, Alvin and Alice Klentz. Funeral services will be held at the Gunderson West Funeral Home, Middleton, at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2004. Family and friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the V.F.W. Post No. 2687 of Merrill, the staff at Pinecrest Nursing Home, and the professional staff at Good Samaritan Health Care Center of Merrill." .
