She appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.38 She graduated in 1919 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6,102,219 from Tomah High School.

During high school, she was the girlfriend of Carroll Eugene Griggs. Gary Griggs has Carroll's diary, in which he often talks of his love for Isla. On September 20, 1918, his entry says: "Took Isla to H.P Dance. Had a dandy time. She is one of the very best there is." Carroll died two months later during the Spanish Influenza epidemic.

In the mid-1990's, Gary's mother, Bernice Pergande Griggs, showed the diary to Isla, then a widow. She had no idea that Carroll had kept a diary, and enjoyed seeing his comments about her.

Isla May DICKINSON (`) (~) and Forrest James KENNEDY were married on 15 June 1932.39,57,102 Forrest James KENNEDY, son of David KENNEDY and Almira V. VINZ, was born on 8 August 1897 in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County, MN.57,220 After 1921 he was an owner of the Kennedy Auto Supply in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.221 The business was first known as the Exide Battery Station. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.54 Forrest died on 11 May 1990 at the age of 92 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.57,220 He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.220 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
