Home Surname List Name Index Sources Email Us | Eighth Generation123. Obituary Notes: "Armilda (Gerke) Lietz, 91, of Tomah passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Tomah Healthcare Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1923, to Albert and Edna (Hancock) Gerke in the town of Tomah. When she was six-weeks old, her mother passed away and she went to live with her grandparents, Alvin and Louisa Hancock, where she stayed until marriage. She was baptized Dec. 16, 1923, in the town of Tomah by Pastor Glazor and confirmed April 5, 1936, by Pastor Schaller in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tomah. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Lietz in the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, Feb. 14, 1942. To this union, one daughter, Arlys, was born. They farmed on the Lietz family homestead in the town of Wilton, until 1980, when they moved to Tomah, and grandson, Arlen, took over the family farm. She was a long and faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She was employed by the La Crosse Visiting Nurses and Monroe Community Care Program for nine years. She enjoyed helping the elderly and disabled with cleaning or transportation. She and her husband did lawn work and gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Arlys (Glen) Simonson of Wilton; three grandchildren, Arlen (Rhonda) Simonson, Betty (Raymond) Glaser and Eric Simonson; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a brother, Cyril (Dorothy) Gerke; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Paul Heiderich will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Tomah." .
