He appeared in the census in 1850 in Roscoe Township, Winnebago County, IL.1 His household consisted of John, age 31, born in England, occupation "Farmer"; his wife Mariah, age 25, born in England; and their daughters, Harriet, age 14, born in England, and Sarah, age 2, born in Illinois. His household was next to that of his brother William, and just down the road from his brother David. Between 1855 and 1876 John was a farmer in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 His 120-acre farm was located in Section 16, south of Tomah. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.10 His household consisted of John, age 45; his wife, Ann, age 31; and his children, Sarah, age 12, Mary C., age 9; and "Wm.H.", age 7. His occupation was listed as "Farmer" and the value of his real estate was listed as $2,000. Ann WATSON, daughter of Leonard WATSON and Ann MOORE, was born on 15 November 1828 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.7,9,13 She emigrated in 1832 from England, United Kingdom.9,13,15 She and her parents emigrated to Canada in 1832 and then to Illinois. She and her husband moved to Tomah in 1855. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.10 Ann appeared in the census in 1870 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11 She appeared in the census in 1875 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.12 She appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16 She was living with her son William H. Ann appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.17 She was living in the household of her son, William. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.15 She was living with her son. She died on 11 March 1915 at the age of 86.7,9,13 Ann was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8,13 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
