Wilhelm Carl "Bill" ROESKE was born on 23 March 1908 in Coles Valley, Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,5,14,15 He was baptized on 10 June 1908 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ He appeared in the census in 1910 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ Bill appeared in the census in 1920 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.² He was confirmed in 1922 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁶ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸ Bill died on 10 September 1988 at the age of 80.¹⁵ He was buried in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Wilhelm Carl "Bill" ROESKE and Sylvia Vivian BROOKS were married on 28 June 1934 in Monroe County, WI.^17,18,19 Sylvia Vivian BROOKS, daughter of Harry BROOKS and Florence MCOMBER, was born on 31 July 1914 in Farmer's Valley, Monroe County, WI.⁹ She died on 4 January 2014 at the age of 99 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸

Obituary Notes: "Sylvia V. Roeske, 99, of Sparta died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born July 31, 1914, in Sparta, to Harry and Florence (McOmber) Brooks. She married William Carl Roeske June 28, 1934. They spent their married life farming in Coles Valley for many years. They eventually moved to Sparta, where they retired. William passed away September of 1988.

Sylvia was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta, and was also a part of the Ladies Aid. She was a Leader of Valley Ville 4-H Club and a member of Coles Valley Homemakers, and Senior Citizens, and served on the Altar Guild at church. She enjoyed music, cards, crocheting, family gatherings, and farm work.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Janet (Dan) Hoag of Tomah, Jane (Mike) Finn of Tomah and Harlan “Buzz” (Liz) Roeske of Rockton, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Carol (Griggs) Roeske; grandchildren, Mike Roeske, Kathy Baumbach, Rick Pfennig, Vana Miller, Wanda Craig, Debbie Johnson, Angie Muehlenkamp, Sue Heintzelman, Todd Finn, Craig Roeske and Cris Roeske; 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William; son, Arlan; daughter, Betty and her husband, Russ Pfennig; infant son, Dennis; granddaughter, Denise Hoag; and sister, Marjorie (Chester) Syverson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta, with the Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta."
