Obituary Notes: "Mrs. Clara Root, 83, widow of Elmer J. root, died October 18, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Ostrander, East Springfield. Mrs. root was born in Middlefield, October 24, 1869, the daughter of Amos and Victoria (Butler) Wickwire.

A former resident of Springfield Center, she had lived in East Springfield for nine years. She was a member of the Springfield Center Baptist Church.

She is survived by four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four brothers; Gabriel Wickwire, Middlefield; Fred and Charles Wickwire, Cooperstown; and Sumner Wickwire, West Winfield.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Walter H. Read, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in East Springfield Cemetery. "
