Iona Ruby CALKINS was born on 28 July 1922 in Warrens, Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.^193,315 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.³¹⁶ She graduated in 1940 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁹³ from Tomah High School. Iona died on 24 May 2005 at the age of 82 in Mankato, Blue Earth County, MN.¹⁹³

Obituary Notes: "Iona Ruby (Calkins) Mannie, 82, of Waseca, Minn., died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minn.

Born in Warrens, Wis., on July 28, 1922, she was the daughter of Robert and Bernice (Richmand) Calkins. She attended country school until ninth grade and then attended Tomah High School, where she graduated in 1940. She married Earl Mannie on Dec. 11, 1941, in Madison, Wis. She was a stay-at-home mom and later worked at Sears in Waseca, before managing the Paul Bunyan Convenient Store and Wahi's Store in Waseca, Minn. She enjoyed camping and fishing and loved birds and animals. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Chicago-Northwestern Railroad Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Earl, of Waseca; one daughter, Sonja Diederich of Darwin; two sons, Robert and Cheryl Mannie of San Diego, Calif., and Steven and Becky Mannie of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Mike Diederich, Chelsy Mannie, Berkley Mannie, Brooke Mannie, Tyler Mannie and Cory Mannie; and three great-grandchildren, Sara and Ben Holmgren and Chrystal Nicole Diederich. She is also survived by one sister, Alta and Howard Bernhardt of Tomah, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Neil Westby officiating. Burial followed at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. The Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals, Waseca, Minn., assisted the family with arrangements."
