He lived in La Porte County, IN about 1835. Josiah lived while he was prospecting for gold in California in 1850. He died on 16 October 1866 at the age of 72 in Maine Prairie, Solano County, CA.^2,5 He was buried in Vacaville Township, Solano County, CA.² in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
