Obituary Notes: "Gail W. Root, 63, Rt. 1, West Salem, died Thursday, July 26 (1973) at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1909, at Tomah to Mr. and Mrs. Orson Root. He married the former Maxine Dumben of Waterville, Iowa, July 1946. He was a driver for a trucking firm from 1932 to 1963 and belonged to Teamster Union Local 199 of La Crosse and 710 of Chicago.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Joyce of Milwaukee; one son, Orlin J. of Milwaukee; and four grandchildren.

Services were today (Monday) at 2 P.M. in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Salem, Rev. Clarence Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Neshonoc Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman Root, Harold Root, Wesley Root, Howard Sorenson, Glenn Griggs and LaVerne Griggs."

Obituary Notes: "Mrs. Maxine J. Root, 64, formerly of 1221 1/2 Denton St., died Wednesday, Sept. 20 in a Wauwatosa hospital. Mrs. Root was also a former resident of Rt. 1, West Salem.

She was born May 29, 1914, in Waterville, Iowa, to Henry and Mina Dumben. She married Gail Root in La Crosse and he died in 1973.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church Women of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in La Crosse.

Survivors are a daughter, Joyce C., of West Allis; a stepson, Orlin J., of Wauwatosa; and four grandchildren.

Services were Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Arthur Feroe officiating. Burial was in Neshonoc Cemetery, West Salem." She was buried in West Salem, La Crosse County, WI.400 in the Neshonoc Cemetery.
