Samuel ROOT was born on 1 January 1750/1 in Bolton, Tolland County, CT.¹¹ He appeared in the census in 1810 in Vernon, Tolland County, CT.⁵⁷ His household consisted of 1 male, age 45 and over (Samuel, 60); and 3 females, age 45 and over. He was living 5 households from one of his brothers, Daniel, and they were the only two Root households in Vernon in 1810. He died on 7 August 1822 at the age of 71.^11,57 (There were no Roots listed in the 1820 Census for Bolton, CT, so he must have lived elsewhere when he died.)

Samuel ROOT and Miriam GRANT were married.¹¹ Miriam GRANT was born on 9 June 1752 in Ellington, Tolland County, CT.¹¹ She died on 14 February 1845 at the age of 92.¹¹
