In 1832, when he filed his pension application (S14317) for serving in the Revolutionary War, he lived in Hounsfield, Jefferson County, NY. Amos appeared in the census in 1820 in Hounsfield, Jefferson County, NY.⁷⁵ He appeared in the census in 1830 in Hounsfield, Jefferson County, NY.⁷⁶ He died on 10 March 1840 at the age of 81 in Bolton, Tolland County, CT.^11,57 (He was not--nor were any other Roots--listed in the 1810 Census of Bolton, CT, so it is not known where he lived at the time.

Amos ROOT Sr. and Sarah PACKARD were married.¹¹ Sarah PACKARD died on 10 March 1843.¹¹
