317. Captain Moses DEWEY Jr. (*)^4,23 was born on 31 March 1739 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA.⁴

(The attached map is of the Westfield, Hampden County, MA, area. Westfield is located just west of Springfield and Chicopee, MA.) He appeared in the census in 1790 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA.⁴³ He was listed as "Captain Moses Dewey" and his household consisted of 3 "white males of 16 years and upward" (Moses, 51, and his sons Oliver, 27, and Roswell, 23); 2 "free white males, under 16 years" (son Adijah, 14, and and unknown son); and 4 "free white females" (Hannah, 45, and their daughters Hannah, 18, Sarah, 12, and Charlotte, 6). Their oldest daughter, Dolly, 20, had probably already married.

(At the time of the 1790 Census, Hampden County was part of Hampshire County.) He died on 11 October 1820 at the age of 81 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA.⁴ Moses has Ancestral File Number J19B-13.

Captain Moses DEWEY Jr. (*) and Hannah NOBLE (*+) were married on 22 December 1762 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA.⁴ (Moses and Hannah were third cousins.) Hannah NOBLE (*+)^4,23, daughter of Israel NOBLE and Elizabeth MILLER, was born on 5 February 1745 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA. She died on 9 May 1813 at the age of 68 in Westfield, Hampden County, MA. She has Ancestral File Number J19J-7X.
