12. Jacob ROOTE Sr. (/)⁶ was born in July 1654 in Hartford, Hartford County, CT.^1,16 (He may have been born in 1661.) He died on 9 August 1731 at the age of 77 in Hebron, Tolland County, CT.^1,16

He is mentioned in the list of Northampton freemen, 8 Feb 1678. He was among the first settlers of Hebron, CT, where he removed in 1705, and was one of those chosen to run the bounds between Colchester and Hebron in 1710, as the latter was not incorporated when he moved there. He had a farm which remained in the possession of the family for 125 years.

Jacob ROOTE Sr. (/) and Mercy "Mary" FRARY were married on 2 February 1681.^1,16,22 Mercy "Mary" FRARY⁶, daughter of Samson FRARY and Mary DANIEL, was born on 24 July 1662 in Medfield, Norfolk County, MA.^1,16 (Her given name may have been Mercy.) She died on 8 February 1744 at the age of 81 in Hebron, Tolland County, CT.^1,16
