Obituary Notes: "Marvin Hart, age 76, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Monroe County to Lawrence and Viola (Roscovious) Hart. Marvin served in the U.S. Navy from October 1951 until October 1955 during the Korean War. During his tour of duty, he served in the Sixth Fleet on the Navy Destroyer USS Turner. Marvin’s service to his country had always been a great source of pride to him. He always felt a strong bond to fellow veterans and he remained a member of the American Legion Post 201 until the time of his passing.

Marvin was united in marriage to Shirley (Linder) Hart on June 2, 1956, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to Milwaukee where Marvin was employed by Oster Manufacturing Company. In 1958, the couple returned to Tomah to make their home and raise a family. Marvin was employed in the Tomah area as a truck driver for over 45 years. He began by driving for VanPak Plastic Factory (later to become Union Camp) for 36 years. After a short retirement he began driving truck for Tomah Transit and finally part-time for Badgerland Freight Service.

Marvin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was steadfast in his faith and instilled Christian values into his family.

An avid hunter and fisherman, some of Marvin’s happiest times were those shared in the woods or on the lake with his son. A loving father, Marvin deeply cared for his daughter who gave him two loving grandchildren.

Married for over 52 years, Marvin and Shirley shared the steady love, support and devotion that would carry the couple through his final days. He was a steadfast member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; he was a friend to many, and he shared a smile or a hearty laugh with all.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one daughter, LuAnn (Morris) Oestreich of Verona; one son, Allen of Chippewa Falls; a future daughter-in-law, Theresa Robarge; two grandchildren, Erin and Katie Oestreich of Verona; two sisters, Shirley Grassman of Clifton and Nancy (Edwin) Rizner of New Lisbon; one brother, Charles (Judy) Hart of Owatonna, MN; a sister-in-law, Carole Hart of Tomah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Royce Hart.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Curt Backhaus will officiate. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 201 will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah."

Marvin Lawrence HART and Shirley LuAnn LINDER were married on 2 June 1956 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.24,151 Shirley LuAnn LINDER, daughter of Walter LINDER and Maude Elizabeth LARRABEE, was born on 25 August 1935 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.151,152 She graduated in 1953 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.153 from Tomah High School.
