53. Judith A. "Judy" LINDER was born on 3 July 1942 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.6,8 She died on 6 December 2008 at the age of 66 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.6

Obituary Notes: "Judith A. Markgraf, 66, of Tomah, and formerly of Madison, died on Saturday, Dec. 6. 2008, after a long courageous battle with cancer at her home with her family by her side. She was born July 3, 1942, to Alfred “Fritz” and Edna (Rodefer) Linder in Sparta. She was baptized Nov. 28, 1942, at home, and was confirmed at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, on May 28, 1957. She attended Tomah schools and graduated from Tomah Senior High School in 1960. Judith married Norman Markgraf on Nov. 10, 1961, at Zion Lutheran Church in Illinois. She worked for the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles for nearly 30 years until her retirement in 2000. Judith attended worship as a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church of Tomah and was a past member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Madison. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Judy was a wonderful cook and cooked with the motto that “more was always better.” She loved spending time with family and friends during summers at Castle Rock Lake.

Judith, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, is survived by her husband of 47 years, Norman of Tomah; two sons, James (Vicki) of Tomah and Jason (Tami) of Madison; four grandchildren, Christopher (Mary) Markgraf of Ft. Lewis, WA, Bobbie Marie (Paul) Urbanczyk of Arkdale and Alexi and Kelsi Markgraf of Madison; seven great-grandchildren, Celeste, Samuele, Lilith, Gabriel, Annabella, Charles and William; three sisters, Marguerite (Lindell) Williams of Vivian, LA, Vivian Miracle of Mount Horeb and Mary (Roger) Brockman of Tomah; her brother, Thomas Westpfahl of Tomah; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Phyllis) Markgraf of Tomah; an aunt, Gail Rodefer of Mauston; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father, Ted Westpfahl; a sister, Linda Lou; five infant brothers; a nephew, Timothy Westpfahl, and many aunts and uncles.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Curtis Backhaus officiated. Burial was at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, town of Tomah.

Relatives and friends called on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
