Eduard "Ed" SCHMALZ was born on 24 November 1863 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,3,29 He emigrated in 1882 from Germany.¹⁸ He was Lutheran in 1889 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁵ He and his family were listed in the Communion Records of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the early-1890's. Ed appeared in the census in 1900 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸ (His surname was listed as "Smaltz.") He appeared in the census in 1910 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁹ He died on 19 April 1948 at the age of 84 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵¹ Ed was buried in 1948 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵¹ in the St. Paul's German Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Emma appeared in the census in 1900 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸ She appeared in the census in 1910 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁹ She died in 1935 at the age of 68.⁵¹ Emma was buried in 1935 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵¹ in the St. Paul's German Lutheran Church Cemetery.
