He was born on July 24, 1924, to Louis and Rose (Wettstein) Schoot in Tomah. He graduated from Tomah High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served in WW II and was stationed in the Phillipines. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Hanson. Bob was a co-owner of the Tomah-Sparta Speedway when it was built in the early 60s. He spent his career building homes in the Tomah area and was also a structural supervisor at Volk Field. Bob was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Tomah; a son, Roger J. (Kathleen) Schoot of Tomah; a daughter, Stacey K. Allen (fiance' Greg Crawford) of Tomah; a son-in-law, Maynard Sinclair of Sweetwater, TX; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose; a daughter, Vicki Sinclair; a brother, George Schoot, and a sister, Alta Rose Noyes. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at the First United Congregational Church of Christ in Tomah. Pastor Edwin Stigen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation today (Thursday), Oct. 4, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."
