Alta Rose SCHOOT and Samuel "Jim" NOYES were married on 21 December 1948 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11 Samuel "Jim" NOYES, son of George Harry NOYES and Lillian CHURCHILL, was born on 11 July 1926 in Camp Douglas, Cutler Township, Juneau County, WI.11 He died on 30 August 2010 at the age of 84 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11

Obituary Notes: "Samuel J. “Jim” Noyes, of Tomah, died Monday, August 30, 2010, at his home. He was born July 11, 1926, to George Harry and Lillian (Churchill) Noyes in Camp Douglas. He attended school at Tug Hollow, Sunnydale and Tarr Valley. Jim lived on the farm while in high school. He was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1945. He was united in marriage to Alta Rose Schoot on December 21, 1948, in Tomah. She preceded in him in death on August 8, 1988. In 1947, Jim started working on the Milwaukee Railroad in Plummer Junction, Idaho. During these years in Idaho, Jim worked as a foreman for the railroad for over 17 years. In 1967, he relocated back to Tomah and worked at the Tomah railroad shop, working for almost 40 years as a machinist until his retirement in 1987. He was a faithful member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Jim also was a member of the Tomah Masonic Lodge #132 serving as the Lodge Master in 1977, the Royal Arch Masons Tomah Chapter #63 and had served as High Priest, a Commandery #19 in the La Crosse Chapter, the Eastern Star Tomah Chapter #6 as a worthy Patron and the Zor Shriners of Madison. He enjoyed gardening and doing handywork. Jim will be remembered by many as a good neighbor. He is survived by a son, Fernando (Patricia) Noyes of Austin, Minn.; two grandchildren, Freddie and Latrisha Rose; a brother, Harry “Junior” (Evelyn) Noyes of Tomah; a sister, Alyce Betcher of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Schoot of Tomah; an uncle, Sam Noyes of Oklahoma; two aunts, Hazel Lamb and Effie Bloom both of Tomah; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and special friends, Alice Parker and Dorothy Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alta; two brothers-in-law, George and Robert Schoot; a nephew; three cousins; uncles; aunts and cousins. A funeral service was held (today) Thursday, September 2, 2010, 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. Pastor Edwin Stigen officiated. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends called on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m and on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A Masonic service was held on Wednesday at the funeral home at 7 p.m."
