378. Debra K. "Debbie" SOWLE was born on 14 December 1948 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹²⁴ She died on 14 August 2005 at the age of 56 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.¹²⁴

Obituary Notes: "Debra K. Pettis, 56, of Sparta, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, in her home peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She was born on Dec. 14, 1948, in Tomah, WI, to Peck and Peggy (Hill) Sowle. She grew up in the Tomah area and married Larry Riley in February of 1967. They moved to Sparta after their marriage. They were later divorced. Debra married Virgil Pettis on Nov, 20, 1981, in La Crosse. After marriage they lived in the Sparta area. She worked at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil of Sparta; two daughters, Stephanie Buck of Sparta and Krista (Tim) Cornish of Sparta; three grandchildren, Darrick, Joshua and Emma; a great granddaughter, Hadley; a brother, Dave Sowle of Janesville; two sisters, Sharon Peterson of Arcadia and Marcia (Rodger) Babcock of Racine; many nieces, and nephews; her best friend, Roxanne Crook, and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Coral and Audrey; a brother-in-law, Pete Peterson, and her cocker spaniel, Reggie.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Rev. Clyde Ewers officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta." She was buried on 22 August 2005 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.¹²⁴ in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
