Obituary Notes: "Harvey "Buster" Sowle, 75, of Tomah, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at his home. He was born on March 1, 1928, to Kenneth and Hazel (Matthews) Sowle in Tomah.

Buster attended Tomah High School. Following school, he worked several jobs, including working for the Milwaukee Railroad and meat cutting in Black River Falls.

On Sept. 22, 1945, he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Brown. He worked at the Tomah Greenhouse that was owned by Carol's parents, Henry and Louise Brown, until 1969. After a brief employment with the City of Tomah, he managed the TeePee Supper Club. Together, Buster and Carol managed Ferries Clothing Store in Tomah. He was then hired by Burnstad's to manage their new garden center in the 1970s until his retirement in 1990.

Buster was a past president of the Tomah City Council and served for over 25 years on the Tomah Fire Department. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Following retirement, he enjoyed his woodworking shop; crafting toys for his granddaughters and doing furniture repair for his friends and neighbors. Buster loved spending time with his family, especially his three granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Steve (Annette) Sowle of Tomah, and Brian Sowle of Tucson, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Anna (Thomas) Loquvam of Tucson, Ariz, Emily (Steve) Ewers of Sun Prairie and Erica Sowle of Tomah; and a brother, William Sowle of Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and his parents, Kenneth and Hazel; five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Martha Hampton will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation today (Thursday), Aug. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."
He was buried on 15 August 2003 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.215 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Harvey Edward "Buster" SOWLE and Carol Jean BROWN were married on 22 September 1945 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.274,275 Carol Jean BROWN, daughter of William Henry BROWN and Louisa Agnes STORKEL, was born on 24 December 1927 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.274 She died on 8 August 1997 at the age of 69 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.274
