James Norman "Jim" KENYON (`) (~) was born on 18 March 1926 in Millston, Jackson County, WI.119,124,256 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.94 He graduated in 1943 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.300 from Tomah High School. Jim died on 4 May 2007 at the age of 81 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.124

Obituary Notes: "James N. Kenyon, age 81, of Tomah, WI, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007, at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1926, to Charles and Harriet (Shookman) Kenyon with his twin sister, Jeannette Norma Kenyon in Millston, WI. James was a 1943 graduate of Tomah High School.

Following high school, he worked in Racine for a short time before being drafted into the United States Army, where he served in Germany during WWII. James was united in marriage to Bernice on Feb. 14, 1946, in Texas, while still serving in the Army. After his discharge in 1946, he worked in Milwaukee until October of 1948. He then moved to Tomah, where he worked at the Tomah VA Hospital in foodservice until 1975. In 1977, they moved to Florida, where they lived until 2004.

James loved cooking and would cook for up to 600 people at their church in Florida. He was proud to have written an autobiography describing life during the Depression. His greatest love was for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Tomah; children, Daniel J. (Mary Jane) Kenyon of New Carrollton, MD, and Dianne M. (Jeff) Schalow of Marshfield; grandchildren, David L. (Melissa) Kenyon of Twin Oaks, MD, Daniel J. “D.J” (Monica) Kenyon of Danville, KY, Carmella J. Kenyon of New Carrollton, MD, Brad T. (special friend, Megan) Schalow of Abbotsford, and Erin M. Schalow of Eau Claire; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glen, and two sisters, Helen and Kathleen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Harriet; three sisters and a brother, Doris, Veva, Jeanette and Kyle.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Burial will follow in the LaGrange Cemetery, rural Tomah. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Tomah in memory of Jim."

James Norman "Jim" KENYON (`) (~) and Bernice Mildred BARRETT were married on 14 February 1946 in Texas.112,124 Bernice Mildred BARRETT, daughter of Clarence BARRETT and Stella DROULARD, was born on 19 October 1925 in Iowa.124 She died on 7 March 2009 at the age of 83 in Marshfield, Wood County, WI.

Obituary Notes: "Bernice Mildred Kenyon, age 83, of Marshfield, formerly of Tomah, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at her home in Marshfield, WI. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. Pastor Bill Swan officiated. Interment followed at the LaGrange Cemetery in Tomah. The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home of Marshfield assisted the family with arrangements.

Bernice was born on Oct. 19, 1925, in Iowa, to Clarence and Stella (Droulard) Barrett. She graduated from high school in Milwaukee, WI. She married James Kenyon on Feb. 14, 1946, in Texas. Bernice worked as an Accounting Clerk for NASA.

Bernice enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading books, and baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bernice is lovingly survived by her son, Daniel (Mary Jane) Kenyon, New Carrolton, MD, and daughter Dianne Schalow, Marshfield. She is further survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother Harry (Zoe) Barrett, nieces, and nephews.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Donald Barrett, and sister Lorraine Wirtzbach."
