1. Gottlieb Ludwig STEINKE was born on 12 September 1835 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1 He emigrated in 1888 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1 Between 1888 and 1895 he was a farmer in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.2 Gottlieb was Lutheran on 15 September 1889 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.3,4 when he became a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died on 22 July 1895 at the age of 59 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.1 He was buried in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.5 in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Gottlieb Ludwig STEINKE and Ernestine KLUGHAUS were married about 1860 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,6 They lived in the Necedah, Warrens, and Tomah areas. Gottlieb moved to the Township of Wilton in his later years, and lived with his daughter, Pauline.
