3. Johann Christoph STELTER1,3 was born on 4 January 1858 in Hammerstein, Kreis Czarnikau, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,3,4 He was christened on 10 January 1858 in Kreis Czarnikau, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).3,4 in the Evangelisch Kirche. He emigrated in 1886 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,4 The family story goes that Christoph Stelter had to leave Germany because he went after a wealthy man with a pitchfork. They packed their clothes and came to the US immediately. They arrived in Wausau in 1885 and lived there for about two years, finally settling in Tomahawk in 1889.

Obituary says he came to the U.S. in 1886 after leaving Germany. He settled in Wausau and moved to Tomahawk, in 1887. The move had to have been after May of that year as Otto was born in Wausau in May of 1887.

Laurie has their oak kitchen table, purchased in Wausau in 1885 when they first arrived.

. Johann died on 5 March 1946 at the age of 88 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, WI.2 He has Ancestral File Number LJGY-ZDD.3

Johann Christoph STELTER and Elina Lena KRAATZ were married on 6 November 1881 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 Elina Lena KRAATZ1,3 was born on 27 December 1855 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).2 She died on 30 April 1940 at the age of 84 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, WI.2
