11. Calvin J. "Cal" SUMMERFIELD was born on 6 September 1925 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.^5,23 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ He died on 17 August 2011 at the age of 85 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.²³

Obituary Notes: "Calvin J. Summerfield, 85, Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born Sept. 6, 1925, to John and Arlene Summerfield in Sparta.

In 1961 Cal bought the family farm where he farmed until 1992. He was united in marriage to Carol A. Faulkner July 21, 1990, at the United Methodist Church in Norwalk. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching sports, especially baseball. Cal was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Norwalk.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; a sister, Audrey Capper of Lodi; a brother, Clinton Summerfield of Norwalk; a sister-in-law, Barb Summerfield of Rockland; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, William “Bill” Summerfield.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Norwalk. Pastor Teresa Amberson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Home Cemetery, Norwalk. Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. The Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home of Norwalk is assisting the family with arrangements."
