He appeared in the census in 1930 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, WI.⁸⁸ His household was near the intersection of 46th and Burnham streets and his occupation was "Instructor, School." He appeared in the census in 1940 in West Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, WI.⁸⁹ His household was at 5310 West Beloit Road and his occupation was "Industrial Art Teacher, Public School." He had completed two years of college and his total wages in 1939 were $2,100.

. Lyle died on 29 November 1971 at the age of 68 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, WI.^28,86 He was buried on 3 December 1971 in Greenfield Township, Milwaukee County, WI.^28,90 in the Arlington Park Cemetery.

Lyle B. THOMPSON Sr. and Eva F. STRANDT were married about 1928.⁸⁸ Eva F. STRANDT, daughter of Emil Maxwell F. STRANDT and Ruby I. OSGOOD, was born on 17 March 1905 in Wisconsin.^86,88 She graduated in 1923 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸⁷ from Tomah High School. She appeared in the census in 1930 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, WI.⁸⁸ Eva appeared in the census in 1940 in West Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, WI.⁸⁹ She died on 8 April 1976 at the age of 71 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, WI.^86,91

Lyle B. THOMPSON Jr. was born on 21 March 1930 in Wisconsin.^88,90 He appeared in the census in 1930 in West Allis, Milwaukee County, WI.⁸⁸ He died on 31 January 1940 at the age of 9 in Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, WI.⁸⁹

Obituary Notes: "Lyle Thompson, Jr., 9, son of Lyle Thompson, instructor and basketball coach at West Milwaukee High School, was instantly killed at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in a coasting accident at Oconomowoc.

The Thompsons were visiting friends at Oconomowoc. With five other boys, Lyle went coasting on Shelly's Hill, a long incline on Forrest Street, in the southeast part of Oconomowoc.

Lyle started down the hill immediately behind the sled of Herbert Wessel, Jr., 10, whose father is chief of the Oconomowoc fire department. The first sled crashed into an obstruction and overturned, young Wessel landing in the snow and escaping injury. Lyle was so close behind, Coroner Martin Fromm of Waukesha county was informed, that he could not avoid crashing into the overturned sled. One of the runners pierced his head. He was taken to a nearby home, where Dr. John Wilkinson pronounced him dead.
