Hazel June WILLIAMS was born on 6 June 1917 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.40,51,56,63 She appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.20 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.55 Hazel died on 19 January 2004 at the age of 86 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.51

Obituary Notes: "Hazel J. Mesner, age 86, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away with her daughter Mary by her side, on Monday, January 19, 2004, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. She was born on June 6, 1917, the fourth of ten children, to Richard and Lola (Bassett) Williams in Tomah, Wisconsin. She graduated from Tomah High School and later attended Teachers Training in Tomah, New Lisbon Normal and received her bachelor's degree from Stevens Point. Hazel taught school in many places including, Norway Ridge, Mather, Tomah and Warrens, and later becoming the principal at Warrens. She retired from the Tomah School district in 1987.

On November 5, 1970, she was united in marriage to William "Bud" Mesner in Sparta, Wisconsin. Together they owned a Skidoo and Polaris Snowmobile business. Hazel and Bud spent the summers at Boudet, MN at their log cabin on Rainy River by Lake of the Woods.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Roger) Tabbert; grandchildren, Mathew and Samantha Tabbert; a special "like a grandchild," Rudy Williams; two sisters, Virginia Griggs of Milwaukee, WI and Helen E. Stark of Sparta, WI; a brother, Richard (Alyce) Williams of Indiana, her brother Harvey's wife, Lee Williams of California; brother and sister-in-laws, Dale (Donna) Mesner of Tomah, WI, Lloyd Mesner of Tomah, WI, Harold (Pauline) Mesner of Milwaukee, Ruth (Lester) Harris of Tomah, WI, Virginia Ryckman (Jim Friedl) of Tomah, WI, and Lucille Baker of Rhinelander, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents, Richard and Lola; an infant brother, Gilbert; brothers, Clarence, Harvey, Charles and Robert Williams; and a sister, Ruth Bongle.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church, and Eastern Star service will be held at 10:00 a.m. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Tomah.
She was buried on 23 January 2004 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.51 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Hazel June WILLIAMS and William Julius "Bud" MESNER were married on 5 November 1970.51 William Julius "Bud" MESNER, son of William C. MESNER and Mabel M. ROCHESTER, was born on 18 June 1920 in Warrens, Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.40,51 He was a member of the First Baptist Church about 1926 in Warrens, Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.64 He died on 1 April 1998 at the age of 77 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.51 Bud was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.63 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
