Franz Carl Martin "Frank" ZARLING was born on 19 July 1850 in Darsow bei Treptow, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,5,6 He was baptized on 28 July 1850 in Zarben, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern (Pomerania) Provice, Preussen (Prussia).⁶ He appeared in the census in 1880 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ (His age was listed as 24.) He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Works on Farm."

Franz Carl Martin "Frank" ZARLING and Auguste Pauline SITZ were married on 13 December 1881 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Auguste Pauline SITZ, daughter of August SITZ and Dorothea UTKE, was born in 1858 in Green Bay, Brown County, WI.^5,11 She was confirmed on 26 March 1871 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She died on 19 June 1932 at the age of 74 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MN.¹¹ Auguste was buried in Elk River, Sherburne County, MN.¹²
