329. Norbert Raymond AFFELDT was born on 18 May 1949 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.260,396

Autobiographical Notes: "Norbert Raymond Affeldt was born to Inez (Ludeking) and Raymond Affeldt in the Sparta Hospital May 18, 1949.  I was baptized by Rev Berg at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, WI, on July 10, 1949.

I attended St Paul's Lutheran School (all 8 grades) in Tomah, and was confirmed with my 8th grade class by Pastor O.W. Heier on May 3, 1963.  I graduated from Tomah High School in 1967 (the first graduating class out of the new high school building).

I attended Coleman Technical Institute in La Crosse, WI (now Western Wisconsin Technical College) and graduated with an Associate Arts degree in Mechanical Design Technology in 1969.  I was hired by Wisconsin DOT, District 1 Highway Office in Madison on June 2, 1969 and worked for WisDOT until the end of Sept, 2006, when I retired.

While working with WisDOT in 1969, helping with building the Campus Drive project in Madison, I was drafted into the USMC, Nov 23, 1969.  I went through the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA and then served at Camp Pendleton (SanMateo area) until Nov 23, 1971 in "B" Company, 3rd Engineer Battalion, 5th Marine Div., as a Service Record Book Clerk in the Company Office.

I was discharged with an Honorable Discharge on Nov 23, 1971 and immediately returned back to employment with the Wisconsin DOT in Madison, WI.

While still in the USMC, I married Karyl Jean Krueger of Tomah, WI on June 12, 1971 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Pastor O.W. Heier.  We were the last couple married in the old St. Paul's Lutheran Church before it was demolished for the new St Paul's Lutheran Church building to be constructed in it's place on Superior Ave.

This marriage resulted in two children being born.  Jay Raymond Affeldt was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on Oct 28, 1973 and Jennifer Anne Affeldt was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on July 8, 1976.

Jay Raymond Affeldt lives and is employed in Madison as an administrator at Memorial High School, where he graduated from in 1991, before attending and graduating from the University of Wisconsin in Dec 1996 with a BS degree in Biology Secondary Education.  Prior to his administrator position, he completed two MS degrees at the UW in administration. While attending the UW, he met Sarah Beth Hinsa from the Green Bay area and they were married at her parents' home in Howard, WI on Aug 2, 1997 in a ceremony conducted by Sarah's parents' church ELCA pastor.  Their marriage yielded twin children Henry Raymond Affeldt and Bryn Viola Affeldt, born July 18, 2005.  Sarah is a Physician's Assistant at the University Hospital in Madison.

Jennifer Anne Affeldt works as a Spanish Teacher at St Cloud, MN Technical High School.  She met Shawn Kenneth Day at the St. Cloud State University, where they both graduated from and they were married in East Glacier National Park by Pastor Peter Franson on June 30, 2007, after Shawn completed his internship and residency at the St. Cloud Hospital after graduating from medical school in Kansas City, Kansas.  Pastor Franson was her favorite Pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison and he agreed to conduct the ceremonies for her and Shawn out in East Glacier National Park.

Dr Shawn Day, D.O. is a Family Practice medical doctor for the Centra Care Clinic and the St Cloud Hospital in St Cloud, MN.  There marriage yielded identical twin girls, Mia Margaret Day and Allison Karyl Day born on July 26, 2007 and a girl, Molly Claire Day born on June 22, 2011.  All three girls were born at the St Cloud Hospital, with the twins being born early at 24 weeks; the youngest twins born there at that time.

After initially spending nearly 4 months in the NICU at St. Cloud Hospital, to date, they have grown up to be healthy normal little 4 year olds.

My father Raymond Affeldt passed away at the Tomah Memorial Hospital on my 11th birthday, May 18, 1960, after having an initial massive heart attack while home with me at 722 Kilbourne Ave. in Tomah the late evening of Friday May 6th, 1960.  He was going to take me trout fishing on Saturday, May 7th, for my first time; but, that never took place, as he never left the hospital after his first heart attack.  He had a second massive heart attack while in the hospital, which caused a cerebral hemorrhage that ended his life on May 18, 1960."

He was baptized on 10 July 1949 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.397 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
