Ruby Mae ZELLMER and Harry Albert ISENSEE Sr. were married on 28 March 1951 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.372 Harry Albert ISENSEE Sr., son of Curtis ISENSEE and Lucy GOODENOUGH, was born on 18 November 1922 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.130,372 He died on 12 November 2012 at the age of 89 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.372

Obituary Notes: "Harry A. Isensee Sr., 89. of Tomah, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

He was born Nov. 18, 1922, to Curtis and Lucy (Goodenough) Isensee in Sparta. He was united in marriage to Violet Bernett on June 26, 1946, in Iowa. She preceded him in death in May of 1949. He was united in marriage to Ruby Zellmer on March 28, 1951, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2002. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving time overseas in the Asian Pacific Theater. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Ft. McCoy, for 33 years until his retirement in 1980. Harry was a member of the Curtis – McNutt VFW Post #1382 and served as a past post commander, worked at the Tractor Pull for many years, and was involved with the girls softball program. He served on the Monroe County Board.

Harry will be remembered for always getting right to the point of things He was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah. After his retirement, he worked harvesting cranberries on the Mubarak Cranberry Marsh and for Gerke Excavating. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and took hunting trips out west to Montana. Harry always enjoyed working with his hands, especially in his gardens, and picking blueberries. He would always share his harvest with all of his family; he would pick the blueberries with the twigs on them so his grandchildren could pick them off. He was a proud grandpa and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he always had the knack of teasing and having a separate individual bond with each one. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.

He is survived by a daughter Patricia (Junior) Eckelberg of Tomah; a son, Harry Jr. (Colleen) Isensee of Camp Douglas;10 grandchildren, Larry Curtis (Rebecca) Isensee of Sun Prairie, Sheri (Greg) West of Reno, Nev., Scott (special friend Bethel Harms) Isensee of Appleton, Wis., Todd (special friend Edna Boyum) Eckelberg of Tomah, Tina (Scott) Von Haden of Tomah, Tori (Richard) Moake of Tomah, Jeremy (special friend Brandy Arneson) Isensee of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Alysa (Derek ) Fike of Sun Prairie, Kraig Isensee of Camp Douglas, Carlee Isensee of Tomah; 20 great-grandchildren, Amy and Alex Isensee of Sun Prairie, Sam Isensee, stationed with the U.S Marine Corp Afghanistan, Kaysie (special friend Josh Resop) of Tomah, Sophie Eckelberg of Tomah, Colby and Cally Von Haden of Tomah, Makayla, Emily, and Kylie Moake of Tomah, Jaren Isensee of Wisconsin Dells, Desiree, Emberly and Caden Fike of Sun Prairie, Nathaniel Isensee of Tomah, Michael, Corey, Erin, Daniel, and Katelyn West of Reno, Nev.; three sisters-in-law, Alpha Jean Gaede and Jenny Zellmer, both of Tomah and Louise Ann Luedtke of Chippewa Falls; a brother-in-law, Forest Bacon of Cataract; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry; a grandson, Troy Eckelberg; a brother, Curtis Isensee; and three sisters, Susan Bacon, Irene Janes, and Cecilia Hammond.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. 525 Superior Ave. Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Memorial Garden with military honors by the Curtis – McNutt VFW Post #1382."
