(According to the 1910 and 1920 Census', her father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in Germany.) She appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ She appeared in the census in 1910 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.³

Emma appeared in the census in 1920 in Madison, Dane County, WI.¹² She appeared in the census in 1930 in Madison, Dane County, WI.¹³ She was listed as "Emily." She died on 15 January 1965 at the age of 78 in Madison, Dane County, WI.⁶ Emma was buried on 18 January 1965 in Madison, Dane County, WI.⁶ in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Emma Ottilie HEMMERLE and Louis Carl SCHULTZ were married on 29 September 1904 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.^3,6,14,15 (Their marriage date is not listed in the Marriage Registration Index, but the 1910 Census indicated that they had been married for five years.) (According to the April 1910 Census, they had two children, of which one was living at the time.) Louis Carl SCHULTZ, son of August H. SCHULTZ and Wilhelmine Albertine Auguste RADLOFF, was born on 25 October 1876 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.^1,2,6 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.² (He was listed as "Lewis.") He appeared in the census in 1900 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Farm Laborer." Louis appeared in the census in 1910 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.³ His occupation was "Farmer, General Farm." He died on 2 March 1914 at the age of 37 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ He was buried on 5 March 1914 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ in the Glendale Cemetery.
