18. Edward August ZUHLKE was born on 28 August 1916 in Kendall, Glendale Township, Monroe County, WI.19,30 (His surname, and that of his father, was spelled "Zuhlke" in his obituary.) He died on 4 November 2008 at the age of 92 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.30

Obituary Notes: "Edward G. Zuhlke, 92, of Kendall, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1916, to August and Ottillie (Erdman) Zuhlke in rural Kendall. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church at South Ridge. He graduated from Kendall High School. He was united in marriage to Fae Ranney on June 14, 1939. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2004. Ed and Fae farmed together for 65 years on the Zuhlke Family Homestead, a century farm on South Ridge in the Town of Wellington. He was a lifelong faithful and devoted member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sons Gerald (Helen) of Kendall and Kim, (Barbara) of Oregon, six loving grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) of Madison, Andrew (Sigita) of Madison, Thomas of Wyocena, Amber of Madison, Kristi of Cinncinnati, OH, and Jeffrey, who attends UW-La Crosse; two sisters, Elna Witt of West Salem and Edna (Mailen) Hoefs of Kendall, and a sister-in-law, LaVern Zuhlke of Tomah; nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fae, and a brother Ruben.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at noon at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, South Ridge. Pastor Fred Fedke will officiate. Burial will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Wellington.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service. The Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with arrangements."

Edward August ZUHLKE and Fae RANNEY were married on 14 June 1939.30 Fae RANNEY died on 1 December 2004.31
