154. Genevieve Josephine VON HADEN was born on 16 September 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16,53,149 She died on 26 July 2006 at the age of 75 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.53

Obituary Notes: "Genevieve (Von Haden) Rosenow, age 75, of Tomah, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on Sept. 16, 1930, to George and Marion (Gamerdinger) Von Haden in Reels Valley. On Dec. 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leroy Rosenow.

Genevieve and Leroy farmed together for almost 40 years. Following her retirement, she worked at Fort McCoy where she ran the movie projector. She was also a volunteer for Monroe County Senior Services, driving many individuals to various appointments. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Indian Creek. Genevieve enjoyed knitting, quilting, playing cards, traveling and sightseeing. She raised not only her own family, but also many others who needed her guidance and support. All who knew her will sadly miss her.

She is survived by a son, David (Kathy) Rosenow of Middleton; daughters Lorna (Gary Schwed) Rosenow and Cindy (David) Vandervort, both of Tomah; grandchildren Mandy (Brad) Musta of Omaha, NE, Rhonda Freemore (Viet) of Onalaska and Jamie Freemore (Ryan) of Camp Douglas; step grandchildren Tiffany (Eric) Hall of Eleva, and Trent Vandervort of Tomah; a sister, Marcella (Richard) Allen of Kingman, AZ; a brother-in-law, Wenzel Felber Sr. of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Donna Denruiter of Cross Plains; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marion; and her husband, Leroy; a son, Edward Rosenow; sisters, Marian Felber and Virginia Von Haden; and a brother, Robert Koenig.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor John C. Wille officiated. Burial followed in the Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale. Visitation was on Friday, July 28, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home and Family and friends were also invited for visitation on Sunday, July 30, 2006, 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation of La Crosse in her memory."

Genevieve Josephine VON HADEN and Leroy E. ROSENOW were married on 17 December 1955.53,243 Leroy E. ROSENOW, son of Albin Erich ROSENOW and Garlinda A. WAPPLER, was born on 4 August 1926 in Hustler, Juneau County, WI.53,149 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.18 He was listed in the household of his maternal grandfather, Edward Wappler. He died on 28 January 2004 at the age of 77 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.53

Obituary Notes: "Leroy E. Rosenow, age 77, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at his home in Tomah. He was born on August 4, 1926, to Alvin and Garlinda (Wappler) Rosenow in Juneau County, Wisconsin. On December 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Von Haden.

Leroy farmed in the Oakdale/Clifton area for close to 60 years. Following his retirement, he worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Tomah. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Indian Creek. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, playing cards, fishing, gardening, traveling, sight seeing, and most of all spending time with his granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Tomah; a son, David (Kathy) Rosenow of Middleton, WI; daughters, Lorna (Gary Schwed) Rosenow and Cindy (David) Vandervort both of Tomah, WI; grandchildren, Mandy Freemore of St. Paul, MN, Rhonda Freemore of Rochester, MN and Jamie Freemore of Tomah, WI; two step-grandchildren, Tiffany Vandervort of Eau Claire, WI and Trent Vandervort of Tomah, WI; two brothers, Alton Rosenow of La Crescent, MN and Duane (Joan) Rosenow of La Luz, New Mexico; two sisters, Delores (John) Schumann of Tomah, WI and LaVon Duer of Milwaukee, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives, KFC acquaintances and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Garlinda; a son, Edward Rosenow; a brother, Eldor Rosenow; an uncle and aunt, Leo (Meta) Wappler; brother-in-law, Ronald Duer and sister-in-law, Lois Rosenow.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor John C. Wille will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, January 30, 2004, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation of La Crosse in Leroy's memory. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."
Leroy was buried on 31 January 2004 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.53 in the Oakdale Cemetery.
