Obituary Notes: "Wilbert C. Bernhardt, age 95, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at Premier Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing of Beloit. He was born Nov. 5, 1914 to the late Louie and Anna (Martin) Bernhardt in Wilton. He graduated from Tomah High School, class of 1933.

Wilbert married Ruth Jameson on Nov. 2, 1939 and their marriage produced one daughter, Karen. He married Opal Patch on June 1, 1973 in Galena, Ill. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2008. Wilbert was a longtime member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. As a young man Wilbert farmed until moving to Beloit in 1951. He worked at GM for 23 years as a Mill Wright until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1977. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Wilbert also enjoyed playing the piano, cards and time with family. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Tom Herold) Lee; two sons, James (Theda) Patch and John Patch; nine grandchildren, Mike (Mary Jo) Patch, Jon (Nancy) Patch, Jana (David) Heckman, John (Sue) Patch, Jandi (Mike) Jenkins, Jay Patch, Joel (Traci) Patch, Jason Patch and Jeremy Patch; 16 great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Jackson, Joshua, Jonah, Jed, Ian, Audrey, Nikki, Sara, Jennifer, Brandon, Amber, Madeline, Jacob, Elizabeth and Rachel; two great-great-grandchildren, Audrey and Landon, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents his sister, Etta, and five brothers, Avalt, Louis, Marvin, Gordon and Leonard. Wilbert’s Funeral Service will be at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1850 Cranston Rd. Beloit, with Rev. Edward H. May officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday at Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow the service in Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established to benefit Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Court & Premier Rehab. for the care they gave dad."
