Joachim Frederick's second marriage, in 1603, was to Eleonore of Hohenzollern (1583–1607), daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia and Mary Eleonore of Cleves. He became regent of the Duchy of Prussia in 1605, because Albert Frederick was becoming increasingly ill. Both of Johann Georg's wifes and some of his children are buried in the crypt underneath the Berlin Cathedral."
