Philip BUTTERFUSS was born on 2 February 1849 in Darmstadt Regierungsbezirke (District), Hessen (Hesse) Province, Germany.^1,9,23 He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ His occupation was "Farmer." He died on 9 September 1881 at the age of 32 in Ackerville, Polk Township, Washington County, WI.^9,23 Philip was buried on 11 September 1881 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.²³ in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Philip BUTTERFUSS and Elisabeth K. KIESLING were married before 1868.^1,4,24 They had 3 children. Elisabeth K. KIESLING²⁴ was born in November 1851 in Germany.¹ She appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ (Her surname is spelled "Kisling" in the baptism record of her daughter Rosa.)

He appeared in the census in 1880 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ He died in 1907 at the age of 28.³ Eddie was buried in 1907 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI. in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
