Johann Gottlieb DAMEROW was born on 9 May 1821 in Sassenhagen, Kreis Saatzig, Regierungsbezirk Stettin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4,5,6 The town of Sassenhagen is now named Chlebowko in Poland. (It is assumed that he was a child in this family, because his assumed brother, Friedrich, married Dorothea Brehmer, a sister of his wife, Louisa.) He was baptized on 13 May 1821 in Sassenhagen, Kreis Saatzig, Regierungsbezirk Stettin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).4 He emigrated in May 1883 from Preussen (Prussia).7 He and his family emigrated from Bremen on the S.S. Main and arrived in New York in 7 May 1883. The ship's passenger manifest lists Gottlieb, 61, occupation "Farmer"; Louisa, 56; and six children, Emilia, 25; Louisa, 18; Friedrich, 16; Albert 16; Friedrich, 13; and Gottlieb, 29 (age not clear). The younger Friedrich is believed to have been a son of Gottlieb's deceased brother, Friedrich. Johann died on 14 February 1892 at the age of 70.5 He was buried in 1892 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.5 in the Mount Vernon-Jacksonville Cemetery. . (According to the 1910 Census, they had 10 children, of whom 8 were living at the time.) (The research of Mickie Grisham indicates that Louise may also have married a Mr. Worth and Wenzel Fuchs. It is believed that her research is in error, as the person who married Wenzel Fuchs and Wilhelm Wirth was Dorothea Louise Pergande.) Louisa Friederike "Louise" BREMER, daughter of Michael Friedrich BREMER and Maria Elisabeth NEUMANN, was born on 25 November 1826 in Sassenhagen, Kreis Saatzig, Regierungsbezirk Stettin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,5,8,9,12,13 (She was listed as age 55 when she emigrated in 1883.) She was baptized on 3 December 1826 in Sassenhagen, Kreis Saatzig, Regierungsbezirk Stettin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).12,13,14,15,16 (He may have been bapized in Alt Damerow, Stolp, Pomerania, Prussia.) She emigrated in May 1883 from Preussen (Prussia).7 Louise appeared in the census in 1905 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.17 She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.11 She was living in the household of her daughter Louisa and her family. She died on 5 July 1911 at the age of 84 in Monroe County, WI.5,8,18 (She may have died in Iowa.)
