She appeared in the census in 1930 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶² She was a "boarder" at the Sam Nielson farm. Gayle died on 23 December 1997 at the age of 87 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶¹
