Polikarp Augustus "August" DINGER was born on 3 October 1839 in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl, Emmendingen District, Baden-Wurttemberg Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,4,16 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Fennimore Township, Grant County, WI.¹⁶ He and his brother Leonard were living in the household of Coburn (?) Johnstone (?) and their occupation was "Farm Laborer." He appeared in the census in 1870 in Leon Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ His household was next to that of George Dinger II, and it is assumed that they were brothers. His occupation was "farmer."

Polikarp Augustus "August" DINGER and Catherine Mariah KITELINGER were married on 13 September 1862 in Wisconsin.^1,4 Catherine Mariah KITELINGER was born on 2 August 1840 in Crawford County, PA.^1,4 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Leon Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ She died on 5 July 1926 at the age of 85 in Ontario, San Bernardino County, CA.¹ Catherine was born in Ontario, San Bernardino County, CA.¹ in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
