Beulah Emmaline DEMPSEY, daughter of Hugh DEMPSEY and Sarah SHADDUCK, was born on 17 May 1903 in La Farge, Vernon County, WI.17 at Jug Creek, near Rockton. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.58 She appeared in the census in 1940 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.65 Beulah died on 6 January 2004 at the age of 100 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.17 Obituary Notes: "Beulah E. Ferries, 100, died Jan. 6, 2004, at her home in Wilton. She was born May 17, 1903, to Hugh and Sarah (Shattuck) Dempsey at Jug Creek, near Rockton, in Vernon County. Beulah attended school in LaFarge and graduated from high school in Wilton. She was teaching school in North Dakota at 16 years old. It was at that time that Vern H. Ferries proposed to Beulah. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1920. They farmed in Wilton and also owned and operated the funeral home and furniture store in Wilton, Norwalk and LaFarge. She was an active member of the Eastern Star. A faithful member of Faith Congregational Church, Wilton, and a member of the ladies circle. She was a devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret (Wesley) Meacham of Wilton; four sons, James (Bernice) of Nekoosa, John (Audrey) and Jay (Isabell), both of Sheridan, Wyo., and Jeremy (Phyllis) of Corvallis, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her beloved husband, Vern, preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1989, after 69 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, her parents and a sister, Bessie Clark, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Congregational Church, Wilton. Pastor Carl Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Wilton, on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service."
