10. Robert L. FRIEDL was born on 5 May 1924 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.^13,14 He graduated in 1942 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹³ from Tomah High School. He died on 2 December 2009 at the age of 85.¹⁴

Obituary Notes: "Robert L. Friedl, 85, of Tomah, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. He was born May 5, 1924, in Elroy, to Charles and Florence (Parker) Friedl. He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran with the 1st Marine Division and fought in the Pacific theater from January 1943 to January 1946. Some of the places he fought or served include Peleliu, Papua New Guinea, Guadalcanal, Goodenough Island, New Britain, Okinawa, Australia, and China.

He was united in marriage to Agnes Schaller on Aug. 17, 1946. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2005. Bob worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 35 years and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201 at Tomah.

He is survived by his six children: Robert J. (Nancy) of Port Isabel, TX, Daniel (Lucy) of New Lisbon, Michelle (Bob Lachman) Clay of Tomah, Thane (Nancy) of Oregon, Kristine and Anthony, both of Tomah; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel (Harry) Imhoff of Madison and Bertha (Virgil) Fowler of Tomah; one brother, James (Virginia) of Tomah; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes; his parents; two sisters, Edna (Duane) Miller and Margaret (Forest) Johnson, and five brothers, Floyd (Dorothy), Gifford (Lucille), John (Mildred), Russell (Anne) and Norman (Betty).

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel officiated. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Mather, with military honors by the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post#201."

Robert L. FRIEDL and Agnes E. SCHALLER were married on 17 August 1946.³ Agnes E. SCHALLER, daughter of Anton SCHALLER and Margaret SCHAUF, was born on 27 February 1925 in Bangor, La Crosse County, WI.³ She died on 31 July 2005 at the age of 80 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³
