145. Henry W. DEZOTELL was born on 5 November 1858 in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, WI.16,165 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.16 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.39 About 1900 Henry was a storeowner in Brown Valley, Traverse County, MN.166

From an article in the Tomah Journal, 30 August 1901: "Mr. H. W. Dezotell, son-in-law of Amos Bigelow of this city, was a heavy loser by a fire last week at Browns Valley, Minn., where he resides. An entire business block in the little town was burned, there being no fire protection. Mr. Dezotell's store building and practically the entire stock of general merchandise was destroyed. His loss is estimated at $25,000, with insurance for $13,000. The store is the one in which Lowell Bigelow, formerly of our city, was employed." He appeared in the census in 1920 in Hennepin County, MN.167 He died after 1930 at the age of 72.73

Henry W. DEZOTELL and Ada L. "Addie" BIGELOW were married on 2 June 1879 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.37,73,168,169,170,171

Newspaper Article: "At the house of the bride's parents in LaGrange, June 2, 1879, by Rev. H. D. Jencks, Mr. Henry W. Dezotell, of Appleton, Minn., and Miss Ada L. Bigelow, of LaGrange."

From the History of Browns Valley: "Henry Dezotell and his wife, Adeaide Bigelow, were among some of Browns Valley's earilest settlers. They operated the General Store on the north end of the main street. Alvin Bigelow has a letter in which Mr. Dezotell invites Lowell Chester Bigelow to work for him.

The Dezotells had three children. A son, Claude, and two daughters who tragically died--one due to diphtheria and the other from serious burns she received from being accidently pushed into a pile of leaves. Both are buried in the Steer's cemetery. The incidents eventually led to the separation of Henry and Adelaide."

From a newspaper article in the Tomah Journal, 14 May 1892: "Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bigelow returned Tuesday from Browns Valley, Minn., where they were summoned the previous week by a sad accident in the family of their daughter, Mrs. Henry Dezotell. The little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dezotell, while playing near a bonfire started by some children, fell into the fire, and before assistance reached her. She was so badly burned that she died a few hours afterward. About three years ago they lost a little girl by diphtheria, and in this second great misfortune the parents will have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends here."

Ada L. "Addie" BIGELOW, daughter of Amos A. BIGELOW and Abigail CHESTER, was born on 29 June 1860 in Monroe County, WI.39,165,171 (Her given name may have been Adelaide.) She appeared in the census in 1870 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.39 She died after 1921 at the age of 61 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA.165,171
