He appeared in the census in 1900 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴⁰ He appeared in the census in 1905 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁶⁴ His occupation was "Farmer." Alfred died on 1 May 1917 at the age of 51 in Ismay, Custer County, MT.^6,52,78,195

Obituary Notes: "He died 1 May 1917 in Imay, Mont. age 51 years, 9 months and 7 days. He belonged to the Modern Woodman Camp 554 at Tomah. He is buried in Ismay. He belonged to the Presbyterian Church. He was born 24 Jul 1865 in LaGrange Township, Monroe County, Wis., the son of Cornelius and Julia Getman Vandervort.

In 1887 he married Carrie Spencer and they had three children: Pearl (Mrs. Cliff Wilson), Worden, and Walter S. He had three brothers: W. E. of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jacob and Lewis of Tomah. In 1910 he went to Mont."

Co. K, 3rd Regt, Wis. Nat, Guard, for 5 years and got out in 1889. He was buried in Ismay, Custer County, MT.^196,197 in the Ismay Cemetery (some sources call it the Presbyterian Church Cemetery).

Alfred Eugene VANDERVORT and Caroline Mae "Carrie" SPENCER were married on 8 October 1887 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.^{6,37,78,83,195,198,199} (They may have had a fourth child, James Spencer, born abt 1895 and died abt 1897 in Tomah.) Caroline Mae "Carrie" SPENCER, daughter of Robert Wallace SPENCER and Mary Emmelie WELLS, was born on 8 May 1868 in Hague, Warren County, NY.^6,40 She appeared in the census in 1905 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁶⁴ She appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷¹ Her husband was not listed with the family during the 1910 Census. Carrie died on 28 March 1918 at the age of 49 in Ismay, Custer County, MT.⁶ She was buried in Ismay, Custer County, MT.¹⁹⁷ in the Ismay Cemetery.
