She was born Oct. 22, 1915, to Floyd and Nita (Dickinson) Purdy at home in the Town of Greenfield. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Vandervort June 16, 1937, at Waukon, Iowa. Leone was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by four children: Bruce (Wendy) Vandervort of Lexington, VA., Val (Dennis) Classey of Newnan, Ga., Maxine (Dennis) Musselman of Roanoke, Va., and Janelle (Ken) Dvorak of Cottage Grove; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; nine sisters and brothers: Marlene Wilde, Merle (Avona) Purdy, Gloria (Julius) Kochinski and Garnet (Charles) Schroeder, all of Tomah, Dale Purdy and Connie (Charles) Whitney, both of Warrens, Gilbert (Betty) of Winchester, Tenn., Craige (Harriet) of Roseville, Minn., and Sharon (Don) Monson of Ripley, Miss.; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents, Floyd and Nita; a daughter, Faye Leone Vandervort; and a brother, Leland. Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 22 and burial will be in the LaGrange Cemetery." She was buried on 22 December 2000 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.35,99,216 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery. Services were today (Monday) at 1:30 P.M. at the first United Methodist Church in Tomah, Rev. Arthur Paltridge officiating. Burial was in the LaGrange Cemetery. He was born near Warrens June 4, 1915, the son of the late Emil and Mary (nee Clay) Vandervort. He married Leone Purdy on June 16, 1937. She survives. His entire lifetime was spent at farming. Survivors include his wife; one son, Bruce, of Washington D.C.; three daughters, Val of Newnan, Ga., Maxine Musselman of Roanoke, Va., and Mrs. Janelle Dvorak of Madison; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Cecil, and an infant daughter."
