Ichabod GRIGGS I (!) was born on 27 September 1675 in Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.^{14,16,81,104,138,162} He was christened on 10 October 1675.¹⁷² About 1695 he was a surveyor of highways in Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.⁷⁹ Ichabod died on 21 April 1718 at the age of 42 in Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.^{16,138,162,173} He was buried in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.^165,174 in the King's Chapel Burying Ground. King’s Chapel Burying Ground was Boston Proper’s first burying ground. It boasts a multitude of illustrious residents, including John Winthrop, Massachusetts’ first Governor, and Mary Chilton, the first woman to step off the Mayflower. According to custom, the first interment in King’s Chapel Burying Ground was that of the land’s original owner, Isaac Johnson.

King's Chapel was established in 1686 as the first Anglican Church in New England. The church houses the oldest American pulpit still in continuous use. The existing stone structure, designed by Rhode Island architect Peter Harrison, was completed in 1754 and built around the original wooden structure in order to continue holding worship during construction. The magnificent interior is considered the finest example of Georgian architecture in North America. The bell, forged in England in 1772, cracked in 1814. It was recast by Paul Revere in 1816 and still rings to this day to summon people to worship.

(The research of Bill Griggs (from several independent sources) indicates that the only children of Ichabod and Margaret were Elizabeth, Hannah, Nathan and Ichabod (indicated by an asterisk following their given names, below). Other sources (e.g., MyHeritage.com) list the other children.
Margaret BISHOP, daughter of Samuel BISHOP and Hester COGSWELL, was born on 17 May 1676 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.^{14,16,110,175} She died in 1776 at the age of 100 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.^176,177 She was buried in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America.¹⁶⁵ in the Kings Chapel Burying Ground.
