The bride, whose father gave her in marriage, had as maid of honor, Miss Betsy Griswold of West Hartford. Mr. Edward Aiken Griggs, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushering were Mr. Thomas Stearns Griggs, another brother of the bridegroom, and Mr. Edward Gross, Jr., of West Hartford and Mr. Willard Leshure Jr. of Longmeadow, Mass., cousins of the bride.

White lace and seed pearls fashioned the bride's gown, and seed pearls decorated the sweetheart neckline. She wore a hat of white lace and see pearls and carried a prayerbook with a marker of white orchids and stephanotis.

The maid of honor was gowned in sky-blue lace and wore a headband of tea roses. She carried Cavalier roses, with Blue delphinium and baby's breath.

A reception at the Madison Beach Club followed the ceremony.

Mrs. Griggs is a graduate of Rogers Hall School of Lowell, Mass., and a member of the Cotillion Club of Hartford. Mr. Griggs is a graduate of Hotchkiss School, Yale University, and a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. An Army veteran, Mr. Griggs is a member of the reportorial staff of The Courant." Griggs, both of Arlington, VA; a daughter, Elisabeth Griggs of New York City; two brothers, Stephen Patrick of Northfield, N.J., and David Patrick of Saratoga, Calif.; two sisters, Jane Bell of Reston, VA., and Susan Fountain of Enfield; two grandchildren; and her step-mother, Lucille Patrick of Boca Raton, Fla.

Memorial services will be held Wednsday, 11 a.m., in the North Madison Congregational Church, with private burial in West Cemetery, Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Visiting Nurses Association. The Swan Funeral home is in charge of arrangements."
