Obituary Notes: "Lynnette (Rawhouser) Kurandt, 81, of Camp Douglas passed away Thursday July 1, 2010, at the Serenity House in Tomah, Wis. Lynnette was born in Tomah on September 24, 1928, to Earle and Norma (Purdy) Rawhouser. She was united in marriage to Rolf Kurandt on February 7,1959, and jointly started the Target Bluff Café that same month. They were blessed with two sons Karlheinz Kurandt on November 28, 1959. and Kurt J. Kurandt on September 15, 1961. They jointly ran their family restaurant now known as Target Bluff German Haus.

She is survived by her husband Rolf and her son Kurt. She is further survived by her sisters Donna (Rawhouser) Shaw, Joyce (Rawhouser) Bunker, Carrol (Rawhouser) Pitel and brother Ward (Ruth) Rawhouser; sister in-law Marlene Rawhouser; grandchildren Karl Kurandt, Jackie Kurandt and Bradley Kurandt; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Karlheinz; three brothers Delbert, Donald and Norris; brothers and sisters in-law Karlheinz and Lizzie Kurandt, Jack Pitel, Richard (Buck) Shaw and William (Bill) Bunker, Lenore Rawhouser, Helen Rawhouser; and nephews Jim Rawhouser, Mark Rawhouser and Nathan Rawhouser.

Lynnette was a full-time partner in work and life with volunteering with multiple civic organizations in the community, supporting the Camp Douglas Fire Department, Camp Douglas Ambulance Service, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Sportsman’s Club, Ducks Unlimited, Camp Douglas Advancement Association and the Camp Douglas Lions Club.

Through the Army and Air National Guard and the business, many lifelong friends were made over the 52 years of operating Target Bluff German Haus.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 6, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Camp Douglas. Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A private family interment will take place at a later date."

Obituary Notes: "Rolf Kurandt, 80, of Camp Douglas passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at Serenity House in Tomah. Rolf was born May 16, 1934, in Wetzlar, Germany, to Karl and Luise Kurandt.

Rolf was united in marriage to Lynnette Rawhouser Feb. 7, 1959, and jointly started Target Bluff Café that same month. They were blessed with two sons, Karlheinz Kurandt Nov. 28, 1959, and Kurt J. Kurandt Sept. 15, 1961. They jointly ran their family restaurant now known as Target Bluff German Haus until retirement.

He is survived by his son, Kurt (Laurie). He is further survived by his grandsons, Karl Kurandt and Bradley Kurandt; granddaughters, Jackie Kurandt and Marissa Hall; great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Rolf is preceded in death by his wife, Lynnette; and his son, Karlheinz; parents, Karl and Luise Kurandt; brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Lizzie Kurandt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert and Lenore Rawhouser, Donald and Helen Rawhouser, Norris Rawhouser, Jack Pitel (Carol), Richard (Buck) and Donna Shaw and William (Bill) Bunker; and nephews, Jim Rawhouser, Mark Rawhouser, and Nathan Rawhouser.

Rolf grew up in Germany during World War II. He had many tales of the war from when he was a child that he loved to share. After the war he worked with his parents at their gast haus (Haus Bergfried) in Altweilnau, Germany. He went on to get his apprenticeship as a chef. Rolf apprenticed in Germany, Switzerland, and in Chicago.

It was in Chicago were he met his future wife when they were working at a country club. In 1959 he bought Target Bluff Cafe. Through the years with much hard work and dedication he made Target Bluff Cafe into Target Bluff German-Haus. Serving the local area for over 50 years.

In addition to owning Target Bluff German Haus, Rolf was an active volunteer in the community. Volunteering with multiple civic organizations in the community, supporting Camp Douglas Fire Department, Camp Douglas Ambulance Service, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Sportsman’s Club, Ducks Unlimited, Camp Douglas Advancement Association and Camp Douglas Lions Club. Through the Army and Air National Guard and the business, many lifelong friends were made over the 55 years of operating Target Bluff German-Haus.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at United Methodist Church in Camp Douglas. Relatives and friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. with a masonic service at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Hare Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Pastor Deb Burkhalter presiding."
