She was born Oct. 19, 1936, to Delbert and Margaret (Ryckman) Griffin. She was united in marriage April 14, 1952, to Bernard Janusheske, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Lydia worked as a cook for years at many various places, she worked in the Burnstad’s meat department, and at Jim Benoit Spur Station until her retirement. In 1997, she moved to Sparta, until more recent when she moved back to Tomah. She was a member of the Eagles Club of Sparta, and the Western County Music Association. She absolutely loved to dance, and would travel around the county to be a part of one. Lydia had a talent for baking and decorating cakes; her grandchildren will remember their special birthday cakes that she made, and also made wedding cakes for many weddings. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Richard) Meyers, Donee (Melvin) Pliner, both of Tomah, Patricia (Kurtiss) Kolin of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bruce Janusheske and Edward (special Terry Jorgensen) Janusheske, both of Tomah; 11 grandchildren, Dawn (Jason) Armstrong, Kelli (Jon) Baas, Kristi Jelinek, Mitchell (fiancée Kayla Rogers) Pliner, Matthew Kolin, Joseph (Kelli), Eric , Edward (special friend Christina), Dustin (Devon) Janusheske, Dena and Jessica Janusheske; 14 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Darlene Schroeder of Tomah, Lois (Jerry) Kanable of Elkhart, Ind., and Eileen Clark, of Naples, Fla., Audrey Graham of La Crosse, and Lloyd (Frances) Griffin of Tomah; many nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Margie Maack, Beverly Hutchison and Joyce Griffin; and two brothers, Dwaine and Harley Griffin. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Todd Fanta will officiate. JANUSHESKE and Ethel Ella PINGEL, was born on 22 May 1930 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.1234 He died on 4 March 2023 at the age of 92 in Black River Falls, Jackson County, WI.1234 Obituary Notes: "Bernard Janusheske, 92, of Tomah peacefully went home on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls. He was born May 22, 1930, to Joseph and Ethel(Pingel) Janusheske, in the township of Adrian. He served in the Marines and was honorable discharged. He worked for the railroad a short time before making farming his career. He loved his cows, even after retiring from farming he dreamt many nights of milking his cows. He was always working in his dreams. After retirement from farming, he mowed many lawns and shoveled snow. He loved to play cards, especially trump when the hunters would come for deer season. He was an avid card player. He also loved to shake dice with his friends. There was the Milwaukee Braves before they became the Milwaukee Brewers. Bernard would be in the field working, we take him a drink and we better know the score of the baseball game because he was sure to ask. When the games were televised you would find him watching the Brewers. Bernard did get to go watch the Brewers in Milwaukee on a bus trip. If there was a baseball game in town or within driving distance you would see him at the games cheering the teams on. He loved his baseball. He was avid watcher of the Price It Right. He had many sayings that he lived by when it came to what the weather was going to bring. He was a very happy go lucky person. He married Lydia Griffin April 14, 1952, they later divorced. This union they had five children whom survive him. He married Lallie Schmidt February 15, 1975; they have a daughter Rose (Stacy) Taylor. His wife and daughter Rose (Stacy) Taylor, granddaughters Valerie ( Tristan) Andrews and Breanna Peters(Tristan), 2 great granddaughters and soon to be great granddaughter survive him. He is survived also by his sister Darlene Griffin and brother Paul (Vicki) Janusheske. Nieces and nephews, family and friends.
